YOU CAN LIVE IN THE CLEANEST AIR AREA AND YOU WILL STILL ENCOUNTER HOT SPOTS WITH YOUR INFANT OR CHILD.

ROADS & HIGHWAYS -  Major Hot Spots,  highways that are heaviliy traveled with commercial traffic and especially the one that have routine traffic jams where diesel powered trucks stop & go just a few feet at a time. The surrounding areas get greatly effected.

SCHOOL BUS STOPS - EVERYDAY PARENTS PUT THEIR OLDER CHILDREN ON SCHOOL BUSES WHEN THEY HAVE INFANTS IN CARRIERS & STROLLERS WITH THEM. DIESEL EXHUAST/SOOT IS ONE OF THE WORST THINGS AN INFANT OR CHILD CAN BE EXPOSED TO. AN INFANT IN THIS REAL LIFE SENERIO GETS TWO DOSES A DAY FOR EVERY SCHOOL DAY. THE ONLY BREAK THE INFANT MAY GET IS WHEN THE OLDER CHILD IS HOME SICK FROM SCHOOL WITH ASTHMA.      SAD TO SAY,  BUT TRUE.

WILDFIRES - Something you can count on happening every year. Millions are effected when their communties become engulfed with smoke resulting from wildfires. People who were exposed to the smoke from the wildfires in California 2007 were smoking the equivalent of 2 packs of cigarettes-------AN HOUR!!!

RAILROADS - Some trains are electric and some are "diesel". Living near a railroad where

diesel locomotives are in use is a Hot Spot.  

STATES WITH NO SMOKING BANDS - Not all states have smoking bans in resturants, public buildings, etc.........

ENTRANCES AND/OR EXITS OF A PUBLIC BUILDINGS - Smokers who gather outside entrances & exits of public buildings for smoke breaks create a hazard to others.

DIRT ROADS - EVEN DIRT ROADS ARE HOT SPOTS. DIRT AND DUST MAY NOT BE AS TOXIC AS OTHER PARTICLES BUT STILL POSES A SERIOUS THREAT.

PESTICIDES - Spraying from helicopters for west niles? This happened when we were eating on an outdoor patio at a resturant. A helicopter came over with an arm on each side with nozzels spraying for west niles. No warning whatsoever! We moved our dinner indoors real quick to say the least!

COAL BURNING POWER PLANTS - All over the country there are coal fired power plants that heavily pollute the air and pose as one of the worst most serious threats.

PORTS - Where ships come in and unload/load cargo. Not only the ships run on diesel but diesel powered trucks are coming and going all day & night.

MOUNTAIN RANGES - Most of our National Parks suffer many bad air days a year. Particles blow into these areas and the moutains act as barriers that trap the settling particles. 

GAS POWERED LAWN MOWERS/DIRT BIKES/JET SKI'S??? - Yes, simply because they don't have any emission control devices to reduce air pollution but, that's in the process of changing!   SEE STORY   SEE VIDEO
